You now have something tangible, that you created, that is complete, which you can evaluate and learn from. However, if you instead force yourself to do your best with what you have and what you know, print a mix or master and call it a day, then you create a unique opportunity for yourself. Sessions become a continuous work in progress. We’ll then come back to the original project and tweak some more. Therefore our tendency is to work on projects, never pronounce them complete, and then fiddle with something else. Because of the freedom of time and money afforded us by powerful computer recording we aren’t ever under any real deadlines.
If you never complete a recording or mixing project it becomes very hard to improve your skill as an engineer. Via Andrew Hurley Flickr Unfinished Business I have a better way for you…finish your projects. The videos hopefully are helping (heck, I hope MY videos are helping you), but the first two are usually a waste of time. So what do we do to accomplish that end? We buy more “professional” gear, join online recording debates, and watch a lot of tutorial videos on YouTube. Most of us truly desire to increase in skill and ability and thereby produce music of high quality.

I know I know it should be time to upgrade but why when all focusrite has to do is update there damn driver and it’ll all be good?! I’ll probably never buy another focusrite piece of hardware again after this.If you’re like me, you want to get better at recording and producing music.

Uninstalled that software through trial and error and installed another, same problem, uninstalled and tried another…SAME THING! Then I installed loopback again and proceeded to disconnect my interfaces and boom! Everything worked again! Wtf?!!! My interfaces are what have been causing me issues for a couple years now?!! Super pissed. Safari wouldn’t work, couldn’t open audio preferences, and I was wanting to throw my computer across the room once again. The interfaces had been working fine until I attempted to use audio routing software…everything came crashing down. I had been having some trouble recently and just reinstalled my OS on my fully upgraded iMac 27 inch with 3.6ghz 8 core i9.

So I have two Safire Pro 40’s that I’ve been using for a years throughout various Mac upgrades. I'm never buying Focusrite again and I advise you to avoid them as well. If Apple update their os - which they do regularly - then you can bet you'll be left with a useless interface*."*
They're saying they are thunderbolt compatible but that means they will work with macs, but thats only now. And I know with Focusrite dropping the price of the Saffire range that they're old and they've got a very short life span left.

"I was going too buy a Focusrite 40 but I've been stung by Focusrite a few times over the years they have a habit of completely killing off their own products and when you ask for help they just reply yeah it wont work on windows 10 and were not making drivers for it. Here's a quote from djwaxxy on Gearspace on a thread from a few years ago, which I wish I had read back then: Let me decide for myself whether I need lower latency or any other improvements offered by new tech - don't do it like this. I'd happily pay for a software update if it was necessary. And we are supposed to do this every 5-10 years.ĭisgusting, greedy, made-to-break philosophy by Focusrite to drive more sales. For the sake of a few lines of code, we are forced to throw away perfectly well-functioning hardware and buy something new. This annoys the living hell out of me, especially in this day and age where we all must work hard to save our planet's resources. I have also been hit by the latest OS upgrade which basically forced retirement on my perfectly well-functioning Saffire Pro 40.
